"Iovir Throat Spray (cherry flavor) can be used as prophylaxis and for the supportive treatment of viral infections of the upper respiratory tract. Iovir Throat Spray can be used additionally for the preventive and sustainable moistening of the oral and pharyngeal mucosa of the mouth and throat.
Iovir Throat Spray can be used in adults and children from 1 year. Iovir Throat Spray contains no preservatives. A sterile filter guarantees the sterility of the solution even after repeated use.

Properties:
Frequent stay in locations with low relative humidity (like heated or air-conditioned rooms, cars, trains or airplanes) may cause dry and irritated mucous membranes of mouth and throat. Intense physical straining of the throat like smoking, long speaking or singing can also result in a dry mouth and throat mucosa. Frequently, this leads to cough, hoarseness or sore throat. The Carragelose® contained in Iovir Throat Spray stabilises the physiological moisture film of the pharyngeal mucosa, and thereby it ensures sustained moistening. This physiological moisture film acts as a physical barrier against external influences and supports the body's natural defences.
Cold viruses enter the human body mainly through the mouth and nose. After entering the mouth they can attach to the oral mucosa where they can multiply and spread. Carragelose® non-specifically envelopes viruses that cause common cold and prevents their adhesion to mucous membranes, thereby reducing the reproduction and spreading of the viruses. Thus, Iovir Throat Spray forms a protective barrier against cold viruses.

Indications:
- For the prevention and supportive treatment of viral infections of the upper respiratory tract.
- For moistening of the oral and pharyngeal mucosa in case of e.g. cough, hoarseness or dry breathing air.
- For the prevention and supportive treatment of all complaints resulting from dry or irritated oral and pharyngeal mucosa caused by e.g. smoking, long speaking or singing.

Dosage and method of administration:
Spray 2-3 puffs at least 3 times daily into the throat or spray several puffs into the throat depending on individual requirements. It can be used for a longer period of time if necessary as there is no risk of overdosing.
Prior to first application pump a few times if necessary, until a uniform spray mist is obtained. Hold the bottle upright when spraying so that the suction tube reaches into the liquid. In order to avoid injury, insert the spray head carefully and not too deeply into the mouth.

Special precautions for safe use:
Iovir Throat Spray may be used during pregnancy and breast-feeding. Iovir Throat Spray has a local action. Carragelose® is not absorbed by the cells of the pharyngeal mucosa. It contains xylitol and can also be used by diabetics. One puff of Iovir Throat Spray corresponds to 0.001 bread units (one bread unit corresponds to 12 g of digestible carbohydrates). Iovir Throat Spray is a medical device. If the symptoms persist, you must consult a doctor. Keep out of the sight and reach of children!
